What will you learn?

Clean and well-maintained food service areas are essential for the health and well-being of all people who eat and work in the area. This training module contains two lessons. Lesson one covers ants, cockroaches, flies and rodents. Food Services Professionals in schools will learn about pest vulnerable areas (PVAs) and how to reduce conducive conditions to keep pests out of the food service area. Lesson two covers key elements of simple and efficient IPM practices that can be followed in food service areas such as sanitation, exclusion, inspection and monitoring, and thorough cleaning procedures for surfaces and equipment are described. Participants will also learn why IPM is crucial to receiving a high score during health department inspections.
