What will you learn?
Teachers have first-hand information about student sensitivities and tendencies and have a direct relationship with students and can influence their behavior greatly. Everything a teacher learns about school IPM will help them and their students to manage pests in their own homes. This training course covers information that is important for every school teacher and to help them get involved in school IPM.
Lesson one educates teachers about integrated pest management. it covers the importance of keeping clutter to a minimum in classrooms, work rooms and lounges. Teachers will learn about the importance of health and safety aspects of certain pests, the overuse of pesticides and if there are pets in the classroom to avoid that those turn into pests.
Lesson two provides suggestions to incorporate IPM into the curriculum. This lesson helps teachers to develop or find a curriculum that follows requirements for biology, biodiversity, ecology, evolution, problem solving and teamwork. It includes a great lesson on bed bugs.
